A ranking of where each Pac-12 football program stands as the league splinters
Considering both short- and long-term outlook.
Officially, the Pac-12 will have 12 members until July, and still has an entire spring sports calendar to play. As its football programs begin spring practices, though, it’s a reminder that each already is preparing for what’s next.
With four schools joining the Big Ten, four joining the Big 12, two heading to the ACC and two still in limbo, let’s examine where each stands as the conference splinters.
Which programs are in good shape for 2024? Which programs secured their futures, but still have work to do in the near term? Which programs should feel good — or not so good — about either or both? With consideration given to factors such as expected on-field competitiveness, coaching stability, financial health and vulnerability vis-a-vis realignment, here is how I would rank the Pac-12’s outgoing schools.
