Washington’s move to the Big Ten presents something of a learning opportunity.
You spent the past few decades getting to know the Arizona schools, then Utah and Colorado. No matter your age, Washington State and Oregon State were always around. Same with California and Stanford.
Now, UW fans must acclimate themselves with 14 new, semi-regular opponents. The Huskies have a memorable history with a few of them, thanks in large part to the Pac-12/Big Ten Rose Bowl affiliation (RIP). Others, you’re going to have to get used to.
So at On Montlake this spring and summer, we’re going to take a closer look at each of the Big Ten’s current members — inspired by fellow Substackers covering Oregon and California — beginning with those on UW’s schedule this season.
That means we’re starting with the Northwestern Wildcats, against whom the Huskies play their inaugural Big Ten game on Sept. 21 at Husky Stadium.
