What an amazing season, filled with numerous amazing moments. This Husky team was so fun, it was a team to be proud of. It would have been great to see them hoist the national championship trophy to cap it off. I’m sad it’s over, I’m sad that we won’t see a number of these guys suit up in the purple and gold. I’m sad that it ended the way it did.
However, I’m happy to have experienced this season. Starting with On Montlake taking off and having an historic season to cover in its rookie year. Wins over rivals with the missed field goal by Oregon to seal the win for UW, contrasted by the field goal to win it in the apple cup followed up by Gross getting a scholarship. The Huskies being infinite Pac12 champions, and parlaying that right into being the first and only pac12 team to play in and win the Sugar Bowl. A Heisman runner up, a Joe Moore award winning line, so many coach of the year for DeBoer and his staff, and likely a few first round draft picks. I’m sure there will be an epic season recap coming, and it’ll be great to read and reminisce.
I’m sad that it’s over, but I’m happy that it happened.
Christian thanks for the great coverage this year it was a magical season. The last two years have shown we are a program on a upward trajectory. So proud of this team and the coaches for giving us so many wonderful memories.
They outplayed us, but what if the holding calls were called equally. Tv had so many plays where Michigan was holding and there were no calls. Odunze was held on one play that would have been first down. Even the announcers commented about some of the obvious. What a great season and Husky team.
that holding call was REALLY frustrating. Michigan was clutching and grabbing on almost every play and then they call it against UW at a critical time. that was a game changer.
True. But Mich put a lot of pressure on Michael who was also off his game. And our WR’s dropped balls they always catch. It always felt we were one completion away from a big play and score and we’d win.
Congratulations to UW for a fantastic season. The Dawgs were clearly the class of the Pac12 in its penultimate season and will do just fine in the B1G. Sometimes you just get beaten.
This was a fun ride. Michigan deserved to win this game. UW had their chances, and it could have gone their way with a couple of breaks, but that’s how it goes. Football.
I’m proud of this team. Class all the way. Penix is a beast and I’m glad I got a chance to watch him for two years. All the guys, really. Now let’s extend our coaches and see where this takes us.
Bigger, stronger and better tackling against missed opportunities is a hard way to try and win a game. Even with that, they were still only one score behind for a long time. Not having DJ at full strength made us too one dimensional.
Congrats to Michigan, they played very well. I’ll still think of this as a magical season.
Christian: Thank you for all the coverage and insight this year. Please post, if you can, how we can greet our returning Huskies. They deserve love and support for all they gave us this beautiful season.
They didn't catch lightning in bottle this time, but Michigan came up short the first 2 times as well. Can this program keep it going and get a couple more chances? That will be the thing. That and learning what seems to be a critical defensive back skill for Big 10 play, the art of holding the bottom of the receivers jersey as you are going to get beat, but never getting called for it. The number of times the broadcast tried to show you "great coverage" by Michigan to then show a replay camera angle that caught the jersey hold was fascinating - and it was called only ONCE.
I live in FL but was in East Lansing, then Seattle vs Oregon, Vegas, New Orleans and now Houston. I really believed we were fated to win. Tonight was devastating. My girlfriend and I have alternated breaking down most of the night. All that could have gone wrong did. Soul-crushing.
Thank you to this Husky team for one hell of a season and lifetime memories. Especially the seniors who've given it all to this program for the past five or six years. Asa, Tuli, Eddie, Rich, Devin, ZTF, Dom, Jack, Ulamoo, Matteo (apologies if I'm missing anyone). Thanks for everything, best wishes, you'll always be Dawgs.
You too Mike, wouldn't have happened without you. Sorry it had to end this way but even then you gave us one last moment, calling out a PI penalty with one hand while throwing a touchdown dart with the other.
Christian, awesome coverage all season, my subscription was worth every penny! Looking forward to more great stories and tracking the evolution of this program as we enter a new era in the Big 10.
The second and third quarters was maybe the best this defense has looked all year. Really proud of those dudes after all the flack they’ve taken.
That was a crushing loss, especially since it wasn’t anything near what we know this offense is capable of, but I’m still encouraged.
Hopefully, DeBoers extension will be announced in the coming weeks. To go from 4-8 to 14-1 in 2 years in unprecedented. I’ve no doubt he will lead this team to greatness again and again.
Congrats on your championship, Michigan. Enjoy it for the two days you still have a head coach, and the six months before the NCAA vacates all of his wins.
This campaign turned out to be way closer to the pre-season “best case scenario” Christian wrote than any of us could have reasonably expected (IMO). Touched by magic, up until the very end. Go Dawgs!

Really good post. A++

Yes... It was “let them play” until the Huskies connected deep and then the standard suddenly flipped.
Call it both ways is all a fan can ask for.

Love your coverage Christian, thank you so much! Looking forward to what's ahead.

This was a great UW team. Simply met a better Michigan team. Hats off to them, they are deserving champions.
I'm not sure Michigan was better. Penix had an off night: if he played up to his usual standards, UW might easily have won.
I agree that UW might have won if Penix wasn't off. But Michigan had something to do with that. Credit where it is due.

Unfortunately once Harbaugh leaves, they won’t vacate his wins.

Dreamer Tatum once said, (In Semi Tough), "whatever could happen, did"!
Can't look back, full steam ahead!
