The 44-8 win by #8 Washington over #6 Wisconsin was not only a resounding, thumping upset, it signaled the arrival of West Coast football on the national stage. Going into that game, the Big Ten owned the AAWU, and everyone was totally surprised by the result. It wasn't as close as the 44-8 score might indicate. :o) And then the very next year, the Huskies, ranked #6, beat #1 Minnesota, 17-7. QB Bob Schloredt from Gresham, Ore., named MVP in both games.
