Your analysis of Washington's greatest win is clouded by the fact that you are so young (that's young compared with me). But in the 1960 Rose Bowl, neither Washington nor any other West Coast team had much of a reputation as a college football powerhouse. The 44-8 win by #8 Washington over #6 Wisconsin was not only a resounding, thumping upset, it signaled the arrival of West Coast football on the national stage. Going into that game, the Big Ten owned the AAWU, and everyone was totally surprised by the result. It wasn't as close as the 44-8 score might indicate. :o) And then the very next year, the Huskies, ranked #6, beat #1 Minnesota, 17-7. QB Bob Schloredt from Gresham, Ore., named MVP in both games.

The political BS was unnecessary. Otherwise, as solid podcast. I agree that FSU earned the “right” to be in the playoff. They won two games AFTER the injury to their QB. Maybe they would get destroyed, or maybe teams would take them lightly and they would continue to win. Sadly, it’s a rigged beauty pageant run by the networks. Lastly, I’m not sure what hoping the Ducks destroy Liberty proves. “Hey, look! I killed a harp seal!” Big deal. Liberty shouldn’t be there, but they are. How about wins by Washington, Michigan, FSU and Liberty? That’ll shake up the country club.

Just listened to your podcast. Two thoughts: (1) Take an orthopedic doctor with you to New Orleans. Half the sidewalks there -- broken and catastrophically distorted by tree roots -- will break one or both of your ankles. (2) I think a talented high school QB should go to a lower-level college where he's guaranteed to start. Then, with great college tape, he can wait for bigger colleges to come begging. That way he won't have to worry, as Austin Mack is, that he's going to continually be leapfrogged by proven portal guys. To make matters worse, if Mack gets frustrated and enters the portal himself, he'll have to do it without any college tape to show he can play.
