LAS VEGAS — They partied for what felt like forever, hoisting the trophy and dancing in the confetti as their celebratory shouts filled the indoor venue.
The Washington Huskies were really, really happy about winning the Alamo Bowl last season.
First-year coach Kalen DeBoer spent the month prior giving history lessons, reminding his players that only four Washington teams ever had won 11 games in a season. The Huskies came up short of playing for a Pac-12 championship, but they at least could finish the year with a feel-good win over Texas, and place themselves in good company in the process.
