The teams’ week one opponents played each other last week. Weber State beat Portland State, 43-16. Does anybody here believe in the transitive property in sports?

Yes and no. Shows portland st is just terrible but other than that not too much. But it also doesn't mean wsu is good because they laid 70 on them. The ducks but 81 on a team last year and how did that work out.

Are you going to force him to become just a thrower? Are you going to allow him to throw, but not run?

Aren't these the same thing? But that's exactly what we do. They have have 1 decent WR and Mateer hasn't proven he can throw. So if he goes 22-30 for 280+ and 3 TDs so be it then they win. But I highly doubt that would happen against our DBs. Much rather that then having us chasing him all over the field.

A good way though to make them throw a lot is come out fast and take the lead. Make them play catch up.

Maybe I'll have to eat crow later. But... I just think there's a lot of over-wringing of hands all of a sudden about Mateer. OMG - do we try to take away his legs or his arm??? Well assuming they've watched the Cougars play, this is a no brainer - they focus on pressuring and containing him. Mateer is a good running/scrambling QB; he's not Johnny Manziel. He's not a great passer. The Cougs don't have a great receiving corps. And we have an outstanding secondary.

Thank goodness Carson can explain it. Hope it's contagious and we whoop some Coug butt!

I don't understand the love for the Apple Cup. WSU will likely be on a downward trend and in future there will be little upside to playing them. We need decent opponents to bolster any CFP runs. If I had to play old P12 rivals, I would by far prefer Utah. Unlike the delusional crank WSU fans, Utah fans are fun to be with and their team always challenges us

Uh, I see a few comments saying John Mateer isn't all that. But I just watched his highlights. He IS all that. I imagine we'll win, but Mateer is going to break out of the pocket repeatedly and have us all cussing at the TV. Guy's a stud.

Being an Oregon fan, I have no dog (pun intended) in this fight. We've got our own matter to settle with Oregon State, same day and time. Looking at this matchup it occurs to me Washington's future is more or less secure, whilst Wazzu's future currently poses more questions than it provides answers. I think they have more to gain with a win, and other things equal I love an underdog. So I will be going with the Cougs this week, for whatever that is worth. And I don't bet on games.

Well Kiwi, I’m UW thru & thru and I’ll pull for Ducks now every season to win as many stress filled games as possible (so you are as high ranked as possible) before we meet at regular season end to have chance for the W, taking of the I-5 crown and overtaking in rankings. If you want your Quacks to place high in CFP you might also rethink wanting a lower ranked UW also meeting ya’ll at seasons end?

The Coogs have always had more to gain.

It's not the site that irritates me, it's the timing. Even if it was on campus, the kids aren't back in school yet. Needs to be later in the season.
