This season has been amazing from start to finish! Christian, your coverage of this team as been amazing from the beginning and I am thankful for all you have written and recorded (shout out to Danny, Say Who Say Poooodddd!). Worth every single penny to subscribe to On Montlake! Go DAWGS!! See y'all in Houston 😁
Here in Durham, NC, I wore a UW shirt to the Gym a couple of days ago. Guy says, "Your QB is pretty good." I said, "He's a nuclear weapon, AND a sweetheart of a guy." At 75, I know all great players fall short of the "perfect hero" narrative that develops around them, but Penix sure seems like a good guy. Even if he plays poorly and makes crucial mistakes on Monday, I'm going to admire him for a long, long time.
that is something I truly have enjoyed with coach Pete and KDB, they really seem to value character in their evaluations of players. You hear a lot of these kids talk, you hear their stories, and you just get the feeling that not only are they good/great players but they are good people too. I hate that so many kids look up to sports stars as role models and heroes, but it sure is nice that it least from outside the program there are a lot of fine young men on this roster
Thanks for this story Christian. Penix is a credit to his family and a credit to UW. He has the opportunity to go out (with his teammates) as a singular champion that will live forever in the memory of this place. He's going to do it -- and he deserves it. Hope everyone who subscribes to On Montlake will be in Houston!
Deboer/Grubb/Penix took the P12 by storm last year and the opposing staffs are still trying to figure out. UW got texas even with 3 weeks of prep. Michigan had to figure it out in a week. They won't be ready.
Christian this is totally unrelated to the story but I haven’t heard anything anywhere in regards to the portal transfers who had yet to sign as of late December. Any insight on them? I am assuming that they enrolled without any issues or I would probably have heard something.
I think Michigan fans are in for a very rude awakening on Monday night. Penix is the best quarterback they’ve seen by a mile and this WR group is going to shred them if he has time to throw. Can’t wait for Monday!
Penix has a good sense of when to get rid of the ball quickly. Hoping Johnson can play primarily for his pass protection. The UW O-Line has been exceptional keeping Penix upright. Texas never laid a finger on him.
We are so lucky to have witnessed this. I can’t imagine my reaction if they are able to get one more win. I sure want to find out what it feels like to win outright.
This doesn't qualify as an insight, but after watching the Texas tape, I imagine Michigan coaches are planning to run Blake Corum up the gut on Monday. Our defensive tackles were working hard against Texas, but they had a very tough night.

Great piece. You keep digging deeper on this special team. Thanks Christian!

My reason for optimism:

Another fabulous column, showing insights and perspectives you just don't get from other writers. Love the podcast too. Go Huskies!!!!

If he has time to throw…. Expect Michigan to blitz early and often. If MPjr stays mostly clean, I like our chances.

I (kind of) made it into a Caple article! What an honor
